There's an app called "Find My Device" that can help find your lost android phone!
You just need to add a Google Account to your device, and turn on Find My Device.
Follow these steps if your phone gets lost:
1. Go to android.com/find and sign in to your Google Account.
2. The lost phone gets a notification.
On the map, you'll get info about where the phone is (approx location will be shown)
3. Reach the location and Play sound: your phone will ring at full volume for 5 minutes, even if it's set to silent or vibrate.

In case your phone is not found, you can add a message or phone number to the lock screen. This may prompt someone to return your phone to you.
Furthermore, you can permanently deletes all data on your phone (but might not delete SD cards) so that someone else cannot misuse your phone
